Gun Control...

If you're of the mind that in the current political and social conventional wisdom, we need additional gun control, please take a moment. Listed below is but a small list of Federal Gun laws. If you do in fact believe that criminals will suddenly begin to obey gun laws, or that suddenly, the passage of even more gun laws and regulations will magically end the problem, stop and think. By advocating for additional gun laws and regulations, you are saying that the current gun laws and regulations have little to no impact and therefore we need to pass additional laws and regulations to correct the problem. Do you understand how asinine that train of thought is? You are advocating to continue to do the same thing over and over again and now expecting a different result.

National Firearms Act (NFA) (1934): Taxes the manufacture and transfer of, and mandates the registration of Title II weapons such as machine guns, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, heavy weapons, explosive ordnance, suppressors, and disguised or improvised firearms.
Federal Firearms Act of 1938 (FFA): Requires that gun manufacturers, importers, and those in the business of selling firearms have a Federal Firearms License (FFL). Prohibits the transfer of firearms to certain classes of people, such as convicted felons.
Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (1968): Prohibited interstate trade in handguns, increased the minimum age to 21 for buying handguns.
Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA): Focuses primarily on regulating interstate commerce in firearms by generally prohibiting interstate firearms transfers except among licensed manufacturers, dealers and importers.
Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA) (1986): Revised and partially repealed the Gun Control Act of 1968. Prohibited the sale to civilians of automatic firearms manufactured after the date of the law's passage. Required ATF approval of transfers of automatic firearms.
Undetectable Firearms Act (1988): Effectively criminalizes, with a few exceptions, the manufacture, importation, sale, shipment, delivery, possession, transfer, or receipt of firearms with less than 3.7 oz of metal content.
Gun-Free School Zones Act (1990): Prohibits unauthorized individuals from knowingly possessing a firearm at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone.
Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (1993): Requires background checks on most firearm purchasers, depending on seller and venue.
Federal Assault Weapons Ban (1994–2004): Banned semiautomatics that looked like assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices. The law expired in 2004.
Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (2004): Granted law enforcement officers and former law enforcement officers the right to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of state or local laws, with certain exceptions.
Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (2005): Prevents firearms manufacturers and licensed dealers from being held liable for negligence when crimes have been committed with their products.

Customer Service FAIL 2

Example Two of Customer Service #FAIL -

Hey, Microsoft! Should it take six times to log into my own account? Yes, I had the proper login name and password in all instances. This was day two, and the day before, they kicked me out, saying there were too many attempts to log in.

Welcome to the small corner of my first-world problems.

Customer Service FAIL

T-Mobile: Great news for customers 55 & up! Act fast & get a FREE 5G smartphone when you add a line (via 24 mo. bill credits). Call 1-800-TMOBILE or visit us today:

This text message arrived a day or so ago. This is the second or third marketing message I’ve received over the past month. Yes, I qualify on the age bracket, so we’re good there. I already have two lines with 5g smartphones and have had them for nearly two years. I want to talk with Tmobile and wonder why they think I need another phone line.

Fall COVID booster vaccines to start next week
CDC committee OKs updated Moderna and Pfizer vaccines

Given the public announcements of many prominent politicians contracting  COVID after a complete series of initial shots and two boosters, do we now need additional boosters?  I thought fall boosters were for the flu, which may or may not be present given the past two years of pandemic hoo-ha.  Given that from all outward appearances, the two initial shots and two boosters have done little to protect those publicly viewed as receiving the shots or shouted from the rooftops that they were now fully protected.  Given what news stories we’ve seen, the confidence in what we were told as the be-all and end-all for pandemic protection is entirely lacking.

Will there now be a public push for these new fall boosters and public service announcements on radio and television by local, state, national, and international celebrities?  Along with sappy, syrupy music accompanying their heart-tugging admonition, pleas, and urgent requests, to get the Fall booster, to protect your neighbors and those you love?

Any predictions as to who will be the first celebrity hawking the Fall Booster?
